#5th Review: My first flight to Europe with KLM

Just a little bit flashback to my first journey to Europe. In October 2015, luckily, I got a recommendation from my colleague in the office to attend one of the biggest Internet Forum which has been held in Stockholm, Sweden. You don’t know, how I was very happy and very excited to had a wonderful chance like that!

And it was completed by the chance that the organiser was booked me economy class flight ticket by KLM! So here is my review during my first flight to Europe with KLM, check it out…

At this time, I would like to write my review during my first flight to Europe with KLM, check it out…

Well, the seat was quite comfortable and spacious (maybe for Asian like me). The flight was at night, and the flight had one stop in Kuala Lumpur and then transit in Schiphol, Amsterdam. The total journey was almost 20 hours and my flight from Jakarta was a lil bit delayed likely for 30 minutes. I was a little bit worried too because my transit time in Schiphol will only take around 1 hour, but finally, I made it even that time my plane was already boarding! (Fiuuuh…)

During the flight from Jakarta to Kuala Lumpur, they served us nice dinner completed with the cake as dessert.

Then we stopped in Kuala Lumpur, all of the passengers should have to go out from the plane and wait at the boarding gate while they cleaned the plane because there will be another passenger from Kuala Lumpur to Amsterdam.

Well, again… They gave us late night snack to eat. I really need to take a good rest even on the plane, so I ordered the red wine to make me sleep better 😉

Late night food with the wine? Why not!

It’s sleeping timeeeee! I got this cute little thingy goodnight goodies, which is very cute! Inside this goodies were blindfold, earplug, toothbrush and the paste. All with blue colour!

Very cute 'Goodnight Goodies' which they gave us before sleeping time

The cabin crew was very powerful! I saw many of them were already above 45 years old and for me, it’s awesome, because they were still very strong to do work as cabin crew, which is for me not so easy to do. They were very polite and always asking what we need (oh well, that’s their job for sure, haha). Most of them could speak either Dutch, Indonesia and English and the most important, their service was also very fast!

After around 15-17 hours flight to Amsterdam, finally, we arrived in Schiphol! The airport was. verrrrrrrrry verrry big, that time I need to find the Gate which I will take my flight to Stockholm and after spent like 1 hour 15 minutes at the security check and 15 minutes at the immigration, I finally arrived at the Gate with my body was sweating a loooot because I was running to the gate hahaha. I even dropped my visa documents somewhere on the floor while I ran, but someone very nice was helped me! Thank youuuu!

When I entered the plane, I looked to the left and right of the seats, and I didn’t found any Asian people. Yes, it was only me surrounded by bule-bule (red: tourist) Scandinavian! Hahaha.

My flight from Amsterdam to Stockholm was around 6 am in the morning, that is why I want to show you some of my pictures from the window where I sat.

Beautiful white skies around

Long story short, it was a pleasure for me to had a flight with KLM during my first flight to Europe. It was super awesome experience with KLM, thank you KLM! Hope I will have chances to fly with you again ❤

2nd Movie Reviews : Experience Never Gets Old, The Intern

The Intern - movie poster:
Experience never gets old

Oh yes, I very agree with this movie tagline. For me, experience who taught you a lot even more than the education. But I didn’t say, education is not important, of course, it is important. Two of them just like two sides of a coin which complete each other. When I watched this for the first time (because now I already watch this movie for 5 times), it was taught me a lot about how does it like to be a tough and successful women.

The Intern movie is a comedy drama which written by Nancy Meyers with the main actors of this movie are Anne Hathaway (Jules Ostin) and Robert De Niro (Ben Whittaker). I feel like they chemistry in this movie was very good and feels like they really have a good connection. Jules here played as a young successful woman who is the founder of the fashion online company who always seems a tireless, ambitious, demanding, workaholic and seems perfectionist, then Ben comes made him as Jules’s intern. Ben is 70-year-old widower which already retired then seizing an opportunity to get back work and he becomes a senior intern in her company.

What I like the most about this movie, there was a loooot of quotes that we can take and always remember for our life motivation. For myself, this movie wanted to show that actually women can do anything, include working and be successful of what they love or passion about, even they already has her own family.

There is one of my favourite scenes when there was interesting conversation when Jules, said this;

Jules: It’s classic, right? The successful wife and the husband feel like his manhood get threatens, so he acts out. Girlfriend I guess makes him more like a man.

It was the scene when Jules got very emotional to shared her cheating husband, Anders Holm (Matt), to Ben at the hotel room. The scene always makes me shed tears on my eyes. I know how it feels to be cheated by someone that we love, that is why every time I watch this scene its always makes me burst in tears. And it taught a lot that every relationship has ups and downs, moreover when two people already get married and have children. The thing is there is a concept which has deep-rooted meanings in our society when the wife should be at home to take care, nurture and educate their children and the husband should have to work to earn money for the family, even since long time ago. But then in recent years, seems it changes a lot. I saw many women who also working in the office, but also she taking care of her children at home. And I always proud when I saw them.

But then in recent years, seems it changes a lot. I saw many women who also working in the office, but also she could taking care of her children at home. Like what my grandmas, my mom and my sister did now, that is why I always proud of them.

Because I know, for a woman or actually maybe a wife, the most difficult time is when they have to maintain, manage and keep the balance between her family and work or her passion.

Truth. #TheIntern in theaters #September25th.:
double shot quotes!
Into it. #TheIntern:
Oh, they are my favourite roles as well! The middle is Adam DeVine played as Jason and the right one is Zack Pearlman as Davis, both are always funny, humorists and talkative.

So for you who still not watch The Intern, now I have to say, you should watch it, like…. NOW!

#4th Review: Grand Aston Hotel, Yogyakarta

I love this Illy cappuccino like…… A LOT! Also the cookies :9

Welcome to Yogyakarta!

I would like to share my experience while I stayed in Grand Aston Hotel in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. On last December, I have visited Yogyakarta with my colleagues in the office for our organisation’s activity. We had a chance to stayed in Grand Aston Hotel in there. I think the hotel just built couple years ago because everything seems quite new. The hotel is super clean and well-designed. It is located in very strategic areas; 30-minute drive from Malioboro Street, where you can find a looooooot of souvenirs, cheap batik, accessories, street food and much more.

Messy twin share bedroom for me and my colleague
Please, ignore the box on the right! 😀

As you can see in the pictures above, this is how exactly the twin share room look like. Quite spacious + there is also a double sofa seat near the window. The room facilities at this hotel also quite complete, there was; telephone, TV flat screen with cable channels, Iron, Ironing facilities, hairdryer, slippers, minibar, refrigerator, alarm clock, and the WiFi also worked very well!

During my stays in this hotel, me and my colleagues was a little bit upset because of the breakfast, the lunch and the dinner menu almost similar like every day. And we have complained about the home-made chilli which was very good but they just served us only 1-2 times during 6 days of our stayed in there, hahaha. But overall the food taste was good! I was upset because they did not serve a cup of cappuccino for free during the breakfast, so we should order and it is not included in the breakfast menu. Because I really like their Illy cappuccino like A LOT! It reminds me of my Rome trip because every morning I always drank the Illy cappuccino to boost my mood, hahaha. Oh, I also was upset, because their traditional drink which called kunyit asam jamu or turmeric acid drink was verrrrrrryyyyyyy sweet! Yes, it made me feel upset.

Here is me relaxed in the swing sofa haha

Oh, the hotel also located nearby the Ambarukmo Mall, Galeria Mall, Tugu Monument, Tugu Train Station, Malioboro Mall, Pasar Beringharjo, and Lippo Plaza Yogyakarta. Since the Grand Aston Hotel Yogyakarta is one of 5-stars hotel, so no wonder the room price it costs around IDR 1.200.000 – 1.500.000 or EUR 85-107 per night. It is quite expensive for Yogyakarta which very famous with cheap price, but it’s normal price for hotel rates in Jakarta.

I was not really exploring all of their facilities, but what I know, they also have rooftop bar on the 9th floor, swimming pool and fitness centre.

What I love the most during my stayed in this hotel, they have a lot of jajanan pasar which very rare to find in Jakarta city, which located in front of the hotel. Like this one! My favorite jajanan pasar all the time… kue putu! Hahaha. This one is extremely very rare in the place where I am living now, but a long time before when I was child, it was easily found even in front of my old house every in the afternoon.

I miss you kue putu!

Okay, sorry I got easily distracted by kue putu.

So, for you who wants to go to Yogyakarta either with your friends, colleagues, family or with your significant other, I can recommend you to stay in Grand Aston Hotel Yogyakarta. Because the staff was also very friendly, smiley, and helpful 🙂

1st Movie Review : Poppy the cutest pinky Trolls

Oh, I am so in love with this animation movie by Dream Works production!

And yes, it is…. TROLLS! Now, I would like to give my review about Trolls movie for your recommendation.

Here we go…

Initial Trolls teaser poster:

Trolls are very cute, attractive, colourful and very energetic cartoon animation that I ever saw! It is actually inspired by the tall-haired troll dolls that first became popular in the 1960s. Well, I was not born yet in that years, but I ever had some of the trolls dolls gave from my older sister! The main role here is the Princess called, Poppy which voiced by Anna Kendrick, one of my favourite actress as well! And she has a grumpy not-so-closed-friend called, Branch which voiced by Justin Timberlake.

Return to the main poster page for Trolls (#9 of 18):

The story tells about the bad history between the Bergen and the Trolls long time ago. Where the Trolls should have to escape from the hungry Bergen troops to not be eaten by them. As a leader of the Trolls troops, Poppy who really liked to singing and party in their village, she tried to make sure that their village is already safe from the Bergen, so the troops should not be worried or afraid if they want to have some fun, even Branch already remind all of them many times, that they should not have partied too loud, because it will provoke Bergen to catch and eat them! And he was right, the Bergen came caught and keep them in a cage to prepare to be eaten by them. Poppy feel guilty about her troops who already look like her family, so she tried to rescue her friends from the troll-hungry Bergen.

Along the way, this animation movie trying to give us lessons about the importance of inner happiness, being proud of where we come, the strong of friendship, empathy feeling, and never giving up. Besides, I also love their songs, very catchy and easy listening!

Very recommended for all of the ages! And I am sure children will very love the movie! 🙂

Happy watching, friends!

#3rd Review: 5D 4N in Marriott Hotel, Jakarta – Indonesia

Finally, I have time to write on my 3rd review! During the 1st and 2nd reviews, I made some reviews about my experiences with airplanes, but now, I will try to make a review about one of 5-stars hotel which located in my hometown, Jakarta!

last month in November 2016, I stayed for 5-days and 4-nights in Marriott for a training program which organised by the ASEAN Secretariat. And the organiser booked all of the participants which came from all over ASEAN countries in this hotel. Actually, it wasn’t my first time to came to the hotel, but I came sometimes before just to attended some wedding reception.

I will not tell you about how was the training program or talking about the organiser. But I will make a review about this hotel for your recommendation.

So this is it, my review during my stay in Marriott Hotel, Mega Kuningan, Jakarta.

Like any other hotel room, when we opened the room, you will find a corridor and the bathroom on my left. I’ve got the deluxe room in 26th floor, both the bedroom and bathroom were quite big. It’s actually still very original hotel bedroom design, moreover if we looked at their furniture which they’re used.

The facilities which they have also very complete, there are: TV, telephone, radio, laptop safe, Flat-screen TV,  iron, working desk, Ironing facilities, wardrobe/closet, clothes rack, shower, bathtub, hairdryer, toilet, slippers, minibar, refrigerator, electric kettle, wake up service/Alarm clock, towels, and single sofa!

A big bed for myself!
Working desk and TV
Very nice single sofa there!
The view from my room in 26th floor

What I like the most is their bathroom! Super clean, big and very complete. I enjoyed myself in the bathtub every time after the training and went to the gym, put the bathtub scents and the aromatherapy made it more perfect!

The shower and the bathtub
Relaxing in the bathtub!

They also have very complete breakfast choices, from Western, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indonesian, or even homemade breakfast. My favourite during the breakfast was a cup of cappuccino, dim sum, scrambled eggs, salmon and their juice! Lumayan, perbaikan gizi hahaha.

Salmon, yummm!
Omelette, dim sum, mushrooms and hot cappuccino

Every time after the training, I always spent my time to go to the gym, even just for treadmill or uplifting. Because I know, I ate like almost 5 times/day; breakfast, lunch, dinner and 2x coffee break during the training. So I need to burn the calories! Hahaha.

The fitness place located on the 3rd floor together with the swimming pool, sauna and spa places. In this floor they also have very nice and beautiful balcony, which you can use maybe for relaxing, working on your laptop, or even just walk around. Unfortunately, the swimming pool is quite small and located in the corner. I was thinking maybe the swimming pool was only fit for my nephews haha.

So far, the service was very good, the staff was very polite and helpful. Located in a very good and strategic area in the heart of Jakarta. Where you can easily go to the Lotte Mall Shopping Avenue, Mall Ambassador, ITC Kuningan by a walk around 10-15 minutes, also Oakwood only less than 5 minutes walk. The price? Oh yes, when I checked for the room price, I think it wasn’t too far from another 5-stars hotel in Jakarta. For deluxe/twins room it costs: IDR 2.700.000 – 3.000.000 or EUR 190 – 215/night, include breakfast!

It’s very recommended for couple, family with children also for business purpose!

I hope you will enjoy your stay in Marriott, Jakarta, like we did!

with my lovely baby nephew, Abyan!
Looked at his happy face after delicious breakfast!

#2nd Review: My 1st Journey with Emirates

Oh yes, this will be my 2nd review here in my blog and my 1st journey with Emirates. I had my flight journey with Emirates last June 2016, it was for my Fellowship program in Geneva, Switzerland. So the organiser booked me flight ticket from and to Jakarta – Geneva by Emirates. I was very excited because that was my first time to use Emirates and I finally landed my feet in one of Middle East country and one of the richest country in the world.

Yes, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

So here is my review about Emirates:

  • The Service? So far, they gave a very nice service for the passengers, even sometimes some of them weren’t really hospitable, but overall I love to fly with Emirates. Last time I had midnight flight from Jakarta to Geneva, where I should have to transit in Dubai for 4 hours. Also, I should have transit for 5 hours in Dubai when I had a flight from Geneva to Jakarta.
During my flight from Dubai to Geneva last time, I got three seats for myself! So relax!
  • The Food? Oh, I love the food! It’s acceptable and luckily, it’s good for Muslim people, because they only serve Halal food. They always served delicious dessert!

  • The Entertainment. I love all of movies and music in Emirates. They have very good movies and song lists! So I never get bored during my flight. Moreover, in their new aeroplane, they also have WiFi on board! But you can only try to use it if the aeroplane has already reached above 30.000 ft if I am not mistaken. And it’s only limited for 200mb during 2 hours.
  • The View. Oh, I really love to see the view during my flight from Dubai to Geneva. It’s very beautiful and lovely! I really missed seeing that beauty.
Switzerland Alps
Just took off from Dubai International Airport
Flew up high in Switzerland
  • The Flight. So far, I could say it was one of best experience to fly with Emirates. I almost have no complaints about the flight!
  • Please, always do online check in prior to your flight. This is what I always do and remember to people around me, whenever we will have flight. Besides it helps you booked your flight, it is also will help you to find a better seat during your flight. If you prefer to sit in the aisle, I don’t know maybe because you have a problem to always go to the toilet every hour, so you can choose the aisle seat. But for me, if the flight will take during the morning or afternoon, I will prefer to choose the window seat, rather than the aisle. Because I could take many clouds pictures and if I am lucky enough, I can take the sun too! But during the night, I will prefer to choose the aisle seat.
  • Complete electricity needs! Emirates provide all of your electrical needs. I mean like if you want to charge your phone, they have the international socket and USB plugin. So you don’t have to worry, if your phone/laptop/tablet is low battery, you can just plug it on!
  • I love their wines!

TWO THUMBS UP experiences so far with Emirates! I would love to fly with Emirates next time ❤

#1st Review: Srilankan Airlines

I just came back from tiring and superb field trip and conferences in Sri Lanka last Thursday after a week stayed in there. That was my first time to go to one of South Asian countries, as well as my first time to visit Sri Lanka.

In here I would like to share with you about my experiences by using the Srilankan Airlines. Within 2 weeks prior my departure to Sri Lanka, so I booked my flight ticket through Skyscanner Website, from/to Jakarta – Colombo. Last time I got around IDR 4.800.000 or less than USD 357.

Before I booked the flight, I was asking to one of my Srilankan friend, is it okay to use this airplane, and yes he said it should be okay. Then I finally bought the flight! Oh talking about the price, so after I bought the flight ticket, after I also apply for my visa to Sri Lanka by using the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) System, it is applicable for 30 days visit. If you apply ETA online, then you will get cheaper price for USD 40, than if you proceed it at the airport which will cost for USD 50.

I got direct flight from Jakarta to Colombo, but my flight back from Colombo to Jakarta, I had transit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for 4 hours.

Anyway, as my promise, so here is my review about the Srilankan Airlines:

  • The departure and arrival time was exactly the same with the schedule. No delayed.
  • The seat was comfortable and they have nice leg room space, I mean for Southeast Asian people like me. It was wide enough.
  • They offered very nice and polite services. One of the cabin crew was giving me extra croissant for my breakfast on my flight from Colombo to Kuala Lumpur! I will never forget about him.
  • The plane is neat, clean and tidy. And I love they color, turquoise!
  • The food? Oh yeah, I will never forget about it. I always have a habit to take pictures of the food in every plane I used to travel. And they offered typical South Asian food, either with chicken curry or fish curry, at least for lunch time. And for breakfast, they have more Western kind of food with scrambled eggs and sausage, but still using they typical spices.
Food packaging in Srilankan Airlines
Tadaaa… Here is the chicken curry!
Breakfast in Srilankan Airlines
Scrambled Eggs with bread, sausages, green peas and tomato
  • I love their coffee! Or maybe it’s because I am a coffee person, haha.
  • They have many Indian or Bollywood movies and only few box office movies. And for many times, I chose to watched ‘Me Before You’ and ‘How to be Single’ movies. Comedy romance movies!
  • I don’t have any problem with their take-off and landing process. It was soft and nice ones.
  • Unfortunately, they don’t have USB plug and travel adapter charger in the seat. Like any other international airlines.
  • Easy to do the online check in! This is one of important thing to do 24h prior your flight. Usually, if the passenger was not really full by the time you booked, you can choose the seat wherever you want. Since I really like window seat and located in the back seat, so I always choose it. Because if you do it directly at the check in desk, sometimes they give you free to sit wherever you want, but usually they also give you charge for it.
  • Heavenly view by the window seat!
Up up in the sky high with Srilanka airlines
About to landed in Srilanka International Airport

So that my review about Srilankan Airlines. All over services was good!

Book Review #1 – The Witty Delia’s Life

Yup, as I promised in my previous post, I would like to give you my personal review on a book that I just finished to read! Well, actually I bought this book earlier of this year, but then I was just read it sometimes or if I am in a mood to read a book.

And finally, I have finished this book, yay! So here is my review about this book.

Book Title: “It’s Not Me, It’s You”

Writer: Mhairi McFarlane

Genre: Romance Comedy Fiction

Year: 2014

Published by: Harper, 2015

Pages: 531 pages

A chick-lit novel who’s trying to tell about Delia Moss, the main character of this novel, a woman who goes through some heart-breaking events in life and she was forced to change direction and make some choices in her life, as well as trying to survive and still being strong after her heart-breaking events.

“It’s Not Me, It’s You” is trying to show the reader how does it feels betrayed by someone that we love faithfully. It doesn’t matter how long the relationship went through, but the most important are how we respect each other’s heart. Once women got betrayed by the one that she loved, it might be easy to forgive them, but the heart will be very difficult to start all over again. This is what Delia’s feel after she went through the heart-breaking events in her life.

Mhairi was also trying to show Delia’s life through cartoonish art and its storyline which went really well with the story! I really like how Mhairi tells very details of each character in the story and how she explained every detail of the events, which make me brought into Delia’s world.

I would say that this is a light and nice book to read when you need a relaxing, which also will make you feel good or even sometimes wants to put a smile on your face
