Euphoria Asian Games 2018 and the next Asian Para Games 2018!

“Wah, keren bangeeeeet… It doesn’t look like in Jakarta, isn’t it?” respon saya saat itu.

Berkat seluruh kerjasama dan semangat para atlet lah, Indonesia kini berada di peringkat ke-4 compares to more than 40s Asian countries.

Indonesia memang menunjukkan sebagaimana mestinya Energy of Asia should be like!

What does it feel to be a women pedestrians in Jakarta?

Yes, maybe for some of you who ever been visited Jakarta or at least read any news in online social media ever heard about this kind of issue. Jakarta is a big city, yes even almost as big as Singapore, let say.

In some of the Southeast Asian countries, we might have this common problem about pedestrian in the capital city. Jakarta is one of the big city in Indonesia, which half of its people either using private transportations (like, car or motorcycle) and public transportation (bus, the commuter line, taxi, angkotojek online, etc).  According to the Jakarta Post, as of 2017, there are about 4.8 million cars in Jakarta and about 13.6 million motorcycles.

Yes, it’s big numbers, right?

I actually one of Transjakarta users in which also quite often to access pedestrian road. Transjakarta itself is the name of bus company which own by our local government here. I am working in the central part of Jakarta, where some part of the area has very good pedestrian way, but the other part still worst even not accessible to walk just because of there is a lot of development nearby or hijacked by motorcycle users.

This is one of the problems to walk in a pedestrian way in Jakarta. A lot of motorcycles users take pedestrian way to avoid a heavy traffic jam on the road. Besides that, you will see a lot of food stalls or trucks parked in pedestrian, in which you will feel either annoyed by them or tempted to buy what they sell (but anyway, it’s unhealthy). There are just a few problems which commonly happens in Jakarta, but actually, the main problem which happens to women pedestrians even far beyond of it.

This week, to be exact on 22nd of January is known as National Pedestrian Day in Indonesia. And I would like to share my experiences also maybe a lot of women experiences dealing with the pedestrian road in Jakarta.

Cat-calling. Girls, be prepared for this! You might hear a lot of guys on the street will tease you by whistle or call you with ‘Mba.. Mba’ or even ‘Neng, neng..’ its a nickname to call girl like Miss, in English. They even often look at you from head to toe, just because you wearing a casual cloth which they thought intentionally to see their attention.

Yes, it sucks, I know.

Sexual harassment. I never had this kind of experience, but I knew some friends or heard some girls who experienced this kind of thing. Last year I heard, there was a woman was sexually assaulted in one of crossing bridge in Pondok Indah, it’s nearby in a place where I live. In Indonesia, this kind of assaults can take place even in a very crowded area, even also in a daylight. Unfortunately, in Indonesia, it is such an epidemic and we still don’t have legal protection for sexual harassment.

For women, walking in a big city like Jakarta absolutely will face double risk. First, you never knew when you walk on the sidewalks, you could be raided by motorcycle users. Secondly, you can also be sexually abused.

According to the Thomson Reuters Foundation report frankly said Jakarta had the fifth-most dangerous public transportation system for women in the world and the second in Asian countries, after New Delhi, India.

I don’t mean to make my readers feel worried or afraid to visit Jakarta after you guys reading this. But I want to raise this issue to be our common concern and working together to stop sexual harassment… everywhere! And please, also respect our rights as a woman as well as a pedestrian.

(D)roolling cheese by Ojju!

Happy Monday all!

Today, I am gonna show you another happening Korean restaurant in J-town! (red: Jakarta Town).

The restaurant name is Ojju K-Food!

What makes it really special and very happening? It because they have the phenomenal rolling cheese, which will definitely spoil your tongue and mouth!

I went to Ojju K-Food in Gandaria City, unluckily, on the weekend. Why it was unlucky? Because it was very crowd and full of people, even I went there around 2 pm, which is it shouldn’t be very crowd because it was already passed off the lunch time.

But, in fact, I got the queue number and should have to wait for around 25 numbers, which was waited for almost 2 hours! Yes, it was a very crazy queue! But don’t worry, we can track our queue numbers from their website, so we don’t have to wait in front of their restaurant for hours, but you can also do window shopping while waiting for your turn! 😉

And after 2 hours of waiting, it was paid off by this delicious view!

Rolling Cheese Chicken Wings (Fiery Spicy)

I love this restaurant because of their concept is different from other Korean restaurants in Jakarta, from their interior design, their unique service system, their Korean food menu, and the food taste!

Beside the famous menu of Rolling Cheese Chicken Wings, they also have other main menus, such as Budae Jjigae (Korean ramyeon). FYI, the Budae Jjigae is a Korean army stew dish where you can put various toppings, such as; beef (169K), chicken (149K), seafood (229K) and vegetables (119K) or you can create your own toppings! 😉

Here is the Budae Jjigae, which you can also ‘create your own’ Budae Jjigae!

Two choices: Beef Ribs (219K) and Chicken Wings (99K)
img_20170128_161032
Mikhailov with his shocked’s face when the food came!

Like any other Korean restaurants, they also sell Korean Banchan (Korean small dishes menu); Tteokbokki (rice cake), Ramyeon (Korean noodles),  Dosirak (rice box with 3 choices of chicken, beef and seafood as main dish), Japchae (Korean noodles stir fry) and many more. The price itself very variant from 9K to 89K! I would recommend the Tteokbokki, because it was very tasty, delicious and spicy.

img_20170128_161347
They started to roll the cheese until it’s melted on the mini stove in our table!

For drinks, they have variant of lemonade, juices, soft drinks, and the famous soju (Korean alcohol drinks). Last time, I chose their signature Corn Tea only for 22K and you can enjoy it approximately for 3-4 person!

They also served us some of the FREE side dishes as complimentary, such as; kimchi, sweet and creamy corn, milky macaroni, and some sour-spicy pickles (cucumber kimchi), where you can see half of the looks in this picture below!

img_20170128_161937
And this is how we eat! Don’t worry to be dirty, because they provide us with the plastic to eat with our own hand!

For those who is very curious with this Ojju K-Food, you can also find them on their Instagram account @ojju.indo.

Ready to (d)roolling your cheese? Let’s go to Ojju!

#5th Review: My first flight to Europe with KLM

Just a little bit flashback to my first journey to Europe. In October 2015, luckily, I got a recommendation from my colleague in the office to attend one of the biggest Internet Forum which has been held in Stockholm, Sweden. You don’t know, how I was very happy and very excited to had a wonderful chance like that!

And it was completed by the chance that the organiser was booked me economy class flight ticket by KLM! So here is my review during my first flight to Europe with KLM, check it out…

At this time, I would like to write my review during my first flight to Europe with KLM, check it out…

Their TV and other entertainment facilitate!
Their TV and other entertainment facilitate!

Well, the seat was quite comfortable and spacious (maybe for Asian like me). The flight was at night, and the flight had one stop in Kuala Lumpur and then transit in Schiphol, Amsterdam. The total journey was almost 20 hours and my flight from Jakarta was a lil bit delayed likely for 30 minutes. I was a little bit worried too because my transit time in Schiphol will only take around 1 hour, but finally, I made it even that time my plane was already boarding! (Fiuuuh…)

During the flight from Jakarta to Kuala Lumpur, they served us nice dinner completed with the cake as dessert.

Delicious welcome dinner by KLM on board

Then we stopped in Kuala Lumpur, all of the passengers should have to go out from the plane and wait at the boarding gate while they cleaned the plane because there will be another passenger from Kuala Lumpur to Amsterdam.

Well, again… They gave us late night snack to eat. I really need to take a good rest even on the plane, so I ordered the red wine to make me sleep better 😉

Late night food with the wine? Why not!
Late night food with the wine? Why not!

It’s sleeping timeeeee! I got this cute little thingy goodnight goodies, which is very cute! Inside this goodies were blindfold, earplug, toothbrush and the paste. All with blue colour!

Very cute 'Goodnight Goodies' which they gave us before sleeping time

The cabin crew was very powerful! I saw many of them were already above 45 years old and for me, it’s awesome, because they were still very strong to do work as cabin crew, which is for me not so easy to do. They were very polite and always asking what we need (oh well, that’s their job for sure, haha). Most of them could speak either Dutch, Indonesia and English and the most important, their service was also very fast!

After around 15-17 hours flight to Amsterdam, finally, we arrived in Schiphol! The airport was. verrrrrrrrry verrry big, that time I need to find the Gate which I will take my flight to Stockholm and after spent like 1 hour 15 minutes at the security check and 15 minutes at the immigration, I finally arrived at the Gate with my body was sweating a loooot because I was running to the gate hahaha. I even dropped my visa documents somewhere on the floor while I ran, but someone very nice was helped me! Thank youuuu!

When I entered the plane, I looked to the left and right of the seats, and I didn’t found any Asian people. Yes, it was only me surrounded by bule-bule (red: tourist) Scandinavian! Hahaha.

My flight from Amsterdam to Stockholm was around 6 am in the morning, that is why I want to show you some of my pictures from the window where I sat.

Beautiful white skies around
Beautiful white skies around and the sun started to risen
Sea of clouds up high in Scandinavian country

Long story short, it was a pleasure for me to had a flight with KLM during my first flight to Europe. It was super awesome experience with KLM, thank you KLM! Hope I will have chances to fly with you again ❤

On finding Korean spicy ramen in Town!

Haloha! It’s a weekend blast!

Today, I am going to make you very jealous and drooling just because of the food that I really want to share with you.

This weekend, I’ve decided to treat my sister and my nephew in two famous and very happening Korean restaurants in Jakarta. It is located in one of a shopping mall names Gandaria City, South Jakarta.

Almost every people were talking about this two Korean restaurants, one of them was Double Pots! I knew and looked at those pictures about this kind of foods on Instagram, here are their official Instagram account @doublepots. So, at first, we decided to go there yesterday.

Then, voila…

img_20170128_112606
Korean Spicy Hot Soup (before it’s cooked)

img_20170128_112834
And this is when its already cooked!

Yes, it’s Korean Spicy Hot Soup (with double noodles). It’s very tempting, right?

Anyway, this is one of their special and most favourite ramen/soup dish which contains; fish cake, beef sausage, Shimeji mushrooms, Korean noodle, kimchi, cheese slice, narutomaki (kind of seafood), beef slice, fresh fish balls, mixed vegetables, chikuwa, crab nugget, and seafood tofu. The taste was very tasteful, not too spicy for me who really love spicy food, hahaha. But it’s very recommended!

Besides the Korean Spicy Hot Soup, they also have Beef Hot Soup, since we prefer seafood than beef, so we order the Korean Spicy Hot Soup one! Uuumm yummy :9

img_20170128_112944
Look at Mikhailov’s excited face!

Besides Korean ramen, they also have any seafood or chicken side dish platter. We chose to order the prawn with salted egg. You can also add-ons some of the side dish in your hot ramen soup, such as; eggs, cheese, noodle, fish cake, and etc.

The price is not too expensive, for the Korean Hot Spicy Soup it was only IDR 78,000 (or equal to $ 6/EUR 5.5) and since the pot/bowl is large enough, so actually you can eat it for two people! (Mine was for 3 people, hahaha). And for the side dish platter the price starting from IDR 40,000 until IDR 60,000 ($ 3/EUR 2.7 – $ 4.4/EUR 4).

img_20170128_113002

#3rd Review: 5D 4N in Marriott Hotel, Jakarta – Indonesia

Finally, I have time to write on my 3rd review! During the 1st and 2nd reviews, I made some reviews about my experiences with airplanes, but now, I will try to make a review about one of 5-stars hotel which located in my hometown, Jakarta!

last month in November 2016, I stayed for 5-days and 4-nights in Marriott for a training program which organised by the ASEAN Secretariat. And the organiser booked all of the participants which came from all over ASEAN countries in this hotel. Actually, it wasn’t my first time to came to the hotel, but I came sometimes before just to attended some wedding reception.

I will not tell you about how was the training program or talking about the organiser. But I will make a review about this hotel for your recommendation.

So this is it, my review during my stay in Marriott Hotel, Mega Kuningan, Jakarta.

Like any other hotel room, when we opened the room, you will find a corridor and the bathroom on my left. I’ve got the deluxe room in 26th floor, both the bedroom and bathroom were quite big. It’s actually still very original hotel bedroom design, moreover if we looked at their furniture which they’re used.

The facilities which they have also very complete, there are: TV, telephone, radio, laptop safe, Flat-screen TV,  iron, working desk, Ironing facilities, wardrobe/closet, clothes rack, shower, bathtub, hairdryer, toilet, slippers, minibar, refrigerator, electric kettle, wake up service/Alarm clock, towels, and single sofa!

Very nice single sofa there!

The view from my room in 26th floor

What I like the most is their bathroom! Super clean, big and very complete. I enjoyed myself in the bathtub every time after the training and went to the gym, put the bathtub scents and the aromatherapy made it more perfect!

img_20161206_202508_hdr
The shower and the bathtub
img_20161208_191505
Relaxing in the bathtub!

They also have very complete breakfast choices, from Western, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indonesian, or even homemade breakfast. My favourite during the breakfast was a cup of cappuccino, dim sum, scrambled eggs, salmon and their juice! Lumayan, perbaikan gizi hahaha.

img-20161209-wa0000
Salmon, yummm!
img_20161207_083452
Omelette, dim sum, mushrooms and hot cappuccino

Every time after the training, I always spent my time to go to the gym, even just for treadmill or uplifting. Because I know, I ate like almost 5 times/day; breakfast, lunch, dinner and 2x coffee break during the training. So I need to burn the calories! Hahaha.

The fitness place located on the 3rd floor together with the swimming pool, sauna and spa places. In this floor they also have very nice and beautiful balcony, which you can use maybe for relaxing, working on your laptop, or even just walk around. Unfortunately, the swimming pool is quite small and located in the corner. I was thinking maybe the swimming pool was only fit for my nephews haha.

So far, the service was very good, the staff was very polite and helpful. Located in a very good and strategic area in the heart of Jakarta. Where you can easily go to the Lotte Mall Shopping Avenue, Mall Ambassador, ITC Kuningan by a walk around 10-15 minutes, also Oakwood only less than 5 minutes walk. The price? Oh yes, when I checked for the room price, I think it wasn’t too far from another 5-stars hotel in Jakarta. For deluxe/twins room it costs: IDR 2.700.000 – 3.000.000 or EUR 190 – 215/night, include breakfast!

It’s very recommended for couple, family with children also for business purpose!

I hope you will enjoy your stay in Marriott, Jakarta, like we did!
